NEW RELEASES FOR THE OLD TURNTABLE!!

Although 2012 is fast approaching, Music On Vinyl continues to make 2011 a year with stunning releases.
This batch is available from the 5th of December.

LEONARD COHEN – NEW SKIN FOR THE OLD CEREMONY (1LP) – MOVLP460
'New Skin For The Old Ceremony', Cohen's 4th studio album from 1974, is a distinct move towards richer arrangements and greater musicality, yet through simple song structures the attention is still drawn to the poetry of the lyrics. This first vinyl re-issue since its original release includes "Who By Fire", a duet with Janis Ian, and a song about Cohen's relationship with Janis Joplin, "Chelsea Hotel #2". A lyrics sheet is added for those who truly want to enjoy Cohen's poetry.

THE JAM – THE GIFT (1LP) – MOVLP481
The Jam is the band of "Modfather" Paul Weller. Although The Jam emerged at the same time as Punk Rock, they fitted the mould of the New Wave better. 'The Gift' is their sixth and final studio album, it was released on 12 March 1982 and it reached #1 on the British charts.

BOB MARLEY & THE WAILERS – NATTY DREAD (1LP) – MOVLP397
Twenty years after his passing, Bob Marley is still immensely popular. Reason enough for Music On Vinyl to reissue this 1974 album. Including the oft-covered "No Woman, No Cry", the infectious and cool "Lively Up Yourself" and the Ska-inclined "Rebel Music". Time to put these tunes on heavy rotation!

LISA GERRARD – WHALERIDER [ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK] (1LP) – MOVLP369
Lisa Gerrard became famous as one of the core members and vocalists of the ethereal genre-defying Australian group Dead Can Dance. She earned her stripes as a composer as well, when she was nominated, together with Hans Zimmer, for a Golden Globe for the soundtrack of the blockbuster 'Gladiator'. Eventually she really made the grade when she composed the soundtrack to the 2002 Oscar winning film 'Whalerider'.

ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK – ROUND MIDNIGHT (1LP) – MOVLP442
Dexter Gordon features on almost every song of this Oscar winning soundtrack, but he isn't the only star of the Jazz pantheon that graces this album. Names on the roster include Ron Carter, Bobby McFerrin, Tony Williams, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard and Chet Baker.
Appearing on vinyl for the first time since its original release in 1986, this is one Jazz record you don't want to miss...

JILL SCOTT – WHO IS JILL SCOTT? WORDS AND SOUNDS VOL. 1 (2LP) – MOVLP406
'Who Is Jill Scott? Words & Sounds Vol. 1', Jill Scott's Grammy winning debut is a concept album loosely draped around a love story. And on every song a free-flowing Scott reveals her prowess as a spoken-word poet as well as a more than proficient vocalist. Music On Vinyl is proud to present Jill Scott's first album on vinyl, including the remix of "Love Rain" feat. Mos Def!
