Top 2000, Trijntje Oosterhuis & Jazz Orchestra Of The Concertgebouw, Herman Brood & His Wild Romance, Modern Talking, Toploader, Amber Run, Billy Talent, Été 85
People in the Netherlands know it's almost Christmas time when the NPO Radio 2 Top 2000 pops up in conversations again. The nation's most popular radio media event traditionally starts on Christmas Day. This year, in collaboration with Universal Music NL, we're releasing 6 double albums containing a selection of the best songs that charted in the Top 2000. Definitely also interesting for international music lovers. This week sees the release of the first 3, with music from the 60's, 70's and 80's. Expect to hear work from the likes of Elvis Presley, John Lennon and Queen. All records are pressed on different colours, each in a limited edition of 2000 copies. Sticking to the Christmas theme, we're also releasing Trijntje Oosterhuis & Jazz Orchestra Of The Concertgebouw's collaborative effort Wonderful Christmastime. It is available as a limited edition on gold vinyl.
Fellow Dutch act Herman Brood & His Wild Romance also have a new vinyl release coming out. Ciao Monkey is available as a limited edition on gold vinyl. The romance doesn't end there: Ready For Romance by Modern Talking is now available on transparent red vinyl. The package includes an insert and contains gold-spot varnish on the Modern Talking logo on the front cover. And what's more romantic than dancing in the moonlight on Toploader's brand new orange swirled vinyl version of Onka's Big Moka? This wonderful LP is out today as well.
British indie rock outfit Amber Run have reissued their renowned debut album 5am; it is available now on gold & amber swirled vinyl. Meanwhile, Canadian punk rockers Billy Talent release their second eponymous album Billy Talent II as a limited edition on white vinyl, with a booklet, exclusive prints by Henry Fong and a sleeve with a high quality leather feel.
There's also good news for movie junkies: the soundtrack to Été 85 (Summer of 85) is now available as a limited edition on solid orange vinyl. Fun fact: the film was originally called “Eté 84”, but was renamed because otherwise The Cure singer Robert Smith wouldn't grant director François Ozon permission to use “In Between Days”, a The Cure song that was originally released in 1985.
Ready for Romance is the third studio album by German duo Modern Talking. The album spent five consecutive weeks atop the German chart and also topped the charts in Austria and Switzerland, while reaching the top 10 in Finland, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain and Sweden. The album spawned two successful singles, “Brother Louie” and “Atlantis Is Calling (S.O.S. for Love)”.
Été 85 is the gay summer-of-love story to end them all and boasts a killer soundtrack including The Cure and is scored by non-other than Air's JB Dunckel. The movie is already considered the French answer to the tremendous success movie “Call Me By Your Name”.
