Surinam born Sumy (real name Kenneth Sumter) started his musical career in the late '70s. During the early '80s Sumy signed a deal with Philips for two singles 'The Funky “G” (Only Comes At Night)' and 'Funkin' In Your  Mind' plus recording and releasing an LP on his own record label Galaxy Records.
