Trijntje Oosterhuis works on this album, also her return to the Blue Note label, together with the Jazz Orchestra Of The Concertgebouw. Together they have provided a number of Christmas classics with completely new arrangements.
A Very Cool Christmas is a wonderful collection of all that Christmas has to offer, from the brilliant harmonies of The Temptations and the folk-rock of Leon Russell to the Beatpop of The Kinks and the soul voice from Marvin Gaye. This versatile record consists of both well-known Christmas songs performed by other artists than the famous versions and originals from the '50s until the present.
Originally released on digital platforms in 2018, A Very Spidey Christmas is 5-track EP featuring the Christmas songs recorded for the studios' “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse”, including Chris Pine's rendition of Spidey-Bells (A Hero's Lament).” The full song plays over the credits and it goes to some pretty funny places. “Joy to the World” is sung by Shameik Moore (the voice of Miles Morales). “Spidey-Bells (A Hero's Lament),” which is featured in the movie's end credits, and “Up on the House Top” are sung by Chris Pine (the svelte Peter Parker in Miles' universe). “Deck the Halls” comes from dad-bod Peter Parker, Jake Johnson. Meanwhile, “The Night Before Christmas 1967” is narrated by the voice of the Green Goblin, Jorma Taccone.
The Greatest Christmas Songs is an excellent collection of the most beautiful Christmas songs of all time. From the '60s you'll find classics from The Pointer Sisters, The Beach Boys and Elvis Presley on the record. During the '70s and '80s, some iconic Christmas hits were released by Chris Rea, Mud, Band Aid, Paul McCartney, and Queen, among others.
A Very Cool Christmas volume 2 is the right follow-up to the first volume of the wonderful collection of some very cool Christmas songs. This volume consists of 32 Christmas tracks, recorded by some of the best musicians from the rock, soul, blues, folk, and country scene.
