DESCRIPTION

The debut album by the Scene, titled "the Scene", was released in 1980. The Scene was a Dutch rock band, formed in 1979, centered around singer and songwriter Thé Lau, who would later become known as one of the most influential figures in Dutch-language rock music. This debut album has a different style compared to the Scene’s later, more polished, and Dutch-language albums. Except for two Dutch-language tracks, it primarily features songs in English, with a sound closer to punk and new wave than their later work. Thanks to Thé Lau's husky voice, the album exudes a raw, energetic atmosphere characteristic of the underground music movements of the time. While the album did not receive much attention from the general public upon its release, it laid the groundwork for the band's later successes. The Scene truly broke through in the Dutch-language music scene with albums such as "Blauw" (1990) and songs like "Iedereen is van de wereld", which earned them a broader fan base. Now, 45 years after its initial release, this debut album is finally available again on vinyl, in a limited edition of 500 copies, on pink and purple marbled colored vinyl.
